The Book

All in Together Girls is a children's book that displays and discusses two cousins who play a childhood jump rope game. The cousins take you on a journey to the steps necessary in competing in a Double Dutch Tournament. This book allows children to learn the names of each month and experience the activities and weather associated with those months. Shay and Jaye will have you ready to take out your Double Dutch rope, laugh, and sing with them in their journey down memory lane.

 PJ's World Re-Illustrated

In 2021, there was a lot going on. Not only were we still dealing with COVID-19; we were also dealing with new passions arising, as well as old passions returning. As for me, I learned how to make cookies from scratch and my old passion of writing books returned.

In the past, I took a hiatus when my daughter was born. As a mother, I needed to focus on her growth and development to make sure she was meeting all her toddler milestones, as well as creating additional ones.

Right before my daughter turned 2 years old, she stared showing a lot of independence, such as running, walking up and down steps, learning what using the restroom looked like, and starting to shift her independence from me to her. She's definitely not 100% independent and probably will not be until she's an adult; however, it's good to start the transition early. And if any of you know a toddler, they love their independence or a feeling of independence, such as selecting their favorite juice or toy.

During this transition, my love of writing and creating things returned. I wrote and published two children's books in 2021 and had PJ's World re-illustrated. It was time for a new look. Amazing Pictures From Students at Gregory Elementary School

Earlier this month I posted about the book event developed by the Center for Child and Family Achievement (CCFA Trenton) at Gregory Elementary School. I also posted that I would upload all the students pictures onto this site. I absolutely loved their pictures and could see future illustrators. So here they go:

Children's Book Festival with CCFA Trenton

Too cool
On Friday, June 3, 2016, I was invited by the Center for Child and Family Achievement (CCFA Trenton) to be a part of the Children's Book Festival at Gregory Elementary School. The event was amazing. I had the opportunity of reading to four group of students, which had approximately 10-25 students in each group. The experience was amazing. The students asked questions, told me about their birthdays, reminisced about jumping rope, and talked about trying to convince their families in letting them stay the night over their houses. All of these things were great and things that were discussed in the book All in Together Girls.

The really interesting part was when the students discussed the month of February and the different things they did for their parents during Valentine's Day. I heard them discuss buying them flowers, taking them out to different, and doing other things that expressed appreciation.

I really enjoyed hearing their stories and have them draw pictures of what they heard from the book. Check back later this month for all of their pictures posted.

Fun at Ferry Avenue Branch Library

Camden, New Jersey

Yesterday, I participated in the Children's Book Fun Shop developed by +ADC Kid ™. I had the opportunity to read All in Together Girls to a group of 20-25 students between the ages of 5 -16 years old. It was a great experience reading to the students, asking them questions about the book, and hearing their answers. They were full of life, asked questions, and jumped at the chance to create crafts for their mother and about the book. See more below in regards to the book reading and activities.
